Kristen Ashley Extravaganza

So, I went on a total Kristen Ashley binge.  It started with anticipating her newest release, Raid, which was only a week out from release and then it just didn't stop.

First, I bought...

The Gamble [Colorado Mountain #1] - Kristen Ashley:  This is the first Colorado Mountain book but I had skipped it previously because it's set in a different town from the rest and has a completely different set of characters.  The first third or so of this book was rough goings for me.  Max stepped well over the line from demanding alpha to creepy control freak more than once and, frankly, the man gave me the willies.  He eased up, though, and Nina settled in more with the town and I really found myself enjoying the whole thing.  It also didn't hurt that Max is pretty good at apologizing and admitting he was wrong after being a jackass - something I appreciate mightily in an Ashley hero. I can't wait for Ashley to get back to Gnaw Bone now. (Amz||Grds)

My Reading: Recapping February

The Best...

Getting Hotter [Out Of Uniform #8] - Elle Kennedy:  Navy seal sexytimes!  I love how deft Kennedy is at balancing honest to goodness romance and gleeful smut. Seth has the hots for Miranda, who is a former showgirl who his mom asked him to keep an eye out for.  Unfortunately, Miranda has two six-year-olds and Seth is seriously wary of children.  Miranda takes a risk letting Seth into the lives of both her and her children but it's a calculated risk and she doesn't make the decision without consideration.  I enjoyed how everything played out.   Also, Dylan's whole subplot and the set-up for the next book in the series?  What is not to love about sexy man-on-man action?  Nothing.  These books are a lot of fun.

(Side Note: If you're not familiar with this series, the first 6 are novella length and books 7+ are full-length. I haven't read many of the novellas because romance novellas just aren't one of my favorite things but I have thoroughly enjoyed both full-length novels.)  (Amz||Grds)

My Reading: January In A Nutshell

So, it's March... and that means I'm literally months behind with my reading recap.

So, yeah... the month of January happened... and I read some books.  Here ya go.

The Best...

Shelly Laurenston's Pride Series:  These books are paranormal romances with shapeshifter characters and I love them.  They're so much fun to read - it's downright ridiculous.  Laurenston is a truly hilarious writer and I just cannot get enough of her strong, aggressive, take-no-prisoners female characters. My Yearly Reading: Favorites of 2012

Here we go - my ten favorite books of 2012.  I've sorted these by genre and included links if I've already written about them. I also cheated and combined multiple books by the same author as one single pick.  Oh well, it's my list and I'll do what I want with it.
